More Than 25,000 Passengers Ride Whoosh in One Day, Says KCIC

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) announced that it recorded its highest single-day passenger count for the Whoosh high-speed train service, reaching 25,794 travelers on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

Eva Chairunisa, KCIC’s General Manager of Corporate Secretary, stated that the surge in passenger numbers was driven by the extended weekend coinciding with the school holiday period.

“The public’s preference for Whoosh as their primary mode of transportation is evident from the spike in ticket sales,” Eva said in a statement to Tempo on Friday evening.

The upward trend continued into the next day. By 8:00 AM on Friday, June 27, over 16,000 tickets had already been sold for that day’s departures. KCIC projected the total number of Friday passengers would surpass 24,000.

“Tickets for departures from Halim Station between 6:25 AM and 1:00 PM were completely sold out. For later trips in the day, ticket sales had reached 50 to 70 percent,” Eva added.

To thank the public for their enthusiastic support, KCIC organized special holiday-themed events. On June 27, 1,500 giveaway packages were distributed to every 10th departing passenger from Halim Station and Tegalluar Summarecon. Additionally, 1,000 special items were prepared for children who congratulated the Whoosh team for reaching 10 million total passengers. Messages could be delivered to the Whoosh mascot, Heiser, or left at station counters from June 26 to 28.

Moreover, 500 vouchers and exclusive merchandise were reserved for lucky passengers traveling during that period.

Eva expressed appreciation for the growing public trust in the Whoosh service.

“This success clearly reflects the rising popularity of Whoosh as a modern, fast, and comfortable travel choice,” she noted.

She also mentioned that the holiday season held special meaning for many families.

Previously, Whoosh celebrated a major milestone. Since its commercial launch on October 17, 2023, up to June 25, 2025, the service has carried 10,014,707 passengers and completed 29,786 trips.
