Journey of an Idol
When I was six years old, I loved music very much. I listened to many genres, but my favorites were pop and lo-fi. Every Sunday, I decided to do vocal exercises and explore musical instruments. Now, I have a new routine after school. On Tuesdays, I take vocal lessons. On Thursdays, I have piano and guitar lessons. I was very excited to learn music because it is my hobby, and I truly love it.
After graduating from senior high school, I was accepted into a university majoring in music. The lectures were very enjoyable. My final assignment in college was to create an album with ten songs and compile it into a DVD. I started by developing the concept and vibe. Then, I worked on the hooks, chords, and lyrics. After four months of revisions with my lecturer, my DVD was finally accepted, and I could have a final hearing. After presenting my album to the examiners, I received an A, and I was very happy.
After graduating from university, I began my music career. I recorded my singles in my bedroom. After releasing them, I promoted my songs as much as I could on every platform, from TikTok to YouTube Shorts. Now, I am 23 years old, and I experienced a shocking moment. My third single was heard by many people. On TikTok, the sound went viral, with over 600,000 videos using my song. On Spotify, it peaked at number 8 on the top songs chart. I was very grateful, and I started working on new concepts and collecting songs for my debut album. The album has not been released yet; it is still on pre-save on Spotify and pre-add on Apple Music. However, the enthusiasm from listeners is incredible. After the release, many achievements came to me. Many people enjoyed my songs and shared how much they related to them. Another achievement was performing at Pestapora, my dream stage. The crowd was deep and soulful, and everyone sang along. I always took photos with the audience after each show.
One month after the release, I held a concert tour in July in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. When the time came, I started with a beautiful and unexpected opening. I did not only sing; I presented luxurious and emotional music with interesting stage acts. The audience did not just sing along — they could also share their stories on stage. I was happy, and the audience was very happy too.
The journey did not stop there. I was offered a position as a skincare brand ambassador, and I received many messages from film producers who wanted my songs as soundtracks. After analyzing the offers, I realized that the films and my music were a perfect match. I still cannot believe that my seventeen-year music journey has brought me this far. What a long and meaningful journey it has been.
