Rehan/Gloria Sail Into China Open Second Round, Face Japanese Seeds Next

JAKARTA, 22 July — Indonesian mixed doubles pair Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja became the country’s first representatives to advance to the second round of the 2025 China Open. They dominated India’s Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh in a swift 31-minute match (21–12, 21–17) on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Post-match, Rehan said, “Alhamdulillah, we won without any injuries. In the round of 16, we’ll push ourselves to perform even better.”

In the next round, the Indonesian duo will face eighth-seeded Japanese pair Hiroki Midorikawa and Natsu Saito.

Recent Performance
Despite their consistency, Rehan/Gloria’s results have yet to shine. In their last four tournaments before the China Open, they reached the second round three times (2025 Chinese Taipei Open, Singapore Open, Japan Open) but failed to progress further. Their only early exit was at the 2025 Indonesia Open, where they fell in the first round.

Gloria added, “We hope and pray to pull off an upset in this tournament."
