đź“°Indonesia Reinforces Health Transformation on 61st National Health Day

The 61st National Health Day (HKN) serves as an important moment to reinforce commitment, foster optimism, and continue Indonesia’s health transformation through preventive and promotive approaches.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasized the importance of conducting Free Health Checks (CKG). He estimated that out of Indonesia’s approximately 280 million people, around 240–250 million are generally healthy. However, the remaining 20–30 million who are ill deserve special attention and support.

“Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is actually very simple — by balancing diet, having sufficient sleep, staying physically active, and keeping a positive mindset,” Budi said.

He warned that many people of productive age are developing unhealthy habits that may lead to obesity. Therefore, he urged his two deputy ministers to set an example by maintaining a healthy weight.

Budi also noted that obesity can lead to several health problems, including high blood pressure and high blood sugar. Hence, he encouraged people to have regular health check-ups — ideally at least once a year through the Free Health Check program.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of mental health, advising people to manage stress and practice meditation to maintain psychological well-being, which contributes to overall success in life.

Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono added that the impact of the Free Health Check program may take time to become visible.

“Many people are unaware of their physical conditions. Some suffer from diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, which often show no symptoms. Early detection helps prevent complications at the lowest possible level,” he explained.

This year’s National Health Day carries the theme “Healthy Generation, Great Future.” The campaign encourages Indonesians to adopt healthy habits and undergo regular health screenings to maintain overall well-being.

Furthermore, Dante emphasized the significance of mental health.

“Avoid overthinking about life’s challenges. The key is to maintain a positive mindset. Good health is the foundation of success in life,” he said.
