Indonesia Celebrates as Radithya Claims Junior World Title

Indonesian men’s singles shuttler Radithya Bayu Wardhana claimed the title at the 2026 BWF World Junior Championships after winning an all-Indonesian final.

In the final, held in Cairo, Egypt, on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Radithya defeated compatriot Fardhan Rainanda Joe in three games, 15–9, 11–15, 15–8.

“Alhamdulillah,” meaning “praise be to God,” Radithya said, expressing his gratitude for competing in the World Junior Championships for the first time and immediately winning the title, according to a statement from the Badminton Association of Indonesia.

“Becoming a world junior champion still feels like a dream. I wouldn’t say I’m completely happy just yet because there are still more challenges to face,” he said.

Looking ahead, Radithya said he would continue striving to deliver his best performances and improve his skills at the national training center.

“Once I join the national training center, I will learn a lot from my senior teammates so I can continue giving my best for Indonesia,” Radithya said.

Meanwhile, Fardhan expressed his disappointment at finishing with the silver medal for the second consecutive time.

“The lesson I learned from this year’s World Junior Championships is how important mental strength and concentration are. With the current scoring system, anything can happen,” Fardhan said.

“In my semifinal match, I was trailing 12–14, but I managed to come back and win 16–14. That was an important lesson for the future,” he added.
