China Denies US Claims That Chinese AI Firms Copied US Technology
On Wednesday, September 9, China’s Ministry of Commerce strongly rejected a recent U.S. statement claiming that Chinese AI companies are working on a large scale to acquire AI capabilities and models from the United States.
According to ANTARA, the Chinese ministry said the claims were untrue and had no legal basis.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China’s achievements in AI have been driven by its strong capacity for self-reliance and its scientific and technological strength. At the same time, China has also benefited from cooperation with other countries, including sharing ideas and promoting mutual benefits, as well as maintaining an open and cooperative approach.
Mao said at a press conference, “We think everyone involved should work better together to ensure AI is developed in an open and welcoming way that benefits all of humanity and does good for everyone.”
Mao also urged the United States to seriously work toward implementing the important agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders.
He said that China and the United States, as two major countries in the field of AI, should strengthen cooperation.
