New Year Core
At night , I just stay at home . I just in kitchen cooking roasted corn , sausage , fried noodle . While waiting for 12 o’clock midnight, I turned on my favorite playlist and let the music fill the quiet house. The sizzle of the sausages on the pan and the sweet aroma of the roasted corn made the kitchen feel incredibly cozy. Outside, I could hear the distant sounds of trumpets and children laughing, but inside, there was a different kind of peace.
I set the table for one — or maybe for the memories of the year that was about to end. As I stirred the fried noodles, I looked out the window. The sky was still dark, but the anticipation in the air was thick. I started thinking about everything I had been through: the small wins, the silent struggles, and the moments that made me stronger.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed. It was a video call from my best friends.
“Hey! Are you really just cooking by yourself?” they shouted, their faces lit up by the neon lights of a crowded city square.
I laughed, showing them my plate of roasted corn and sausages. “It’s a feast! I’m having a date with myself.”
We talked and laughed until the clock showed 11:59 PM. I turned off the stove, grabbed my plate, and stepped out onto the balcony. The countdown began in the distance.
3… 2… 1…
BOOM! The sky exploded into a thousand colors. Purple, gold, and emerald green sparks rained down over the rooftops. In that moment, surrounded by the smell of home-cooked food and the thunder of fireworks, I realized that starting the new year in peace was exactly what I needed.
I took a bite of the corn, smiled at the glowing sky, and whispered to myself, “Happy New Year. We’re going to be just fine.”
