A Day in My Life : China
Day 1 — Arrival in Beijing
My journey began at Beijing Capital International Airport. After a long flight, I took a short break and looked for a café to recharge with a cup of coffee.
“I’d like to order a sea salt coffee. How much is it?”
“It’s 20 yuan.”
A few minutes later, my coffee was ready.
“謝謝 (Xièxiè).”
“不客氣 (Bù kèqì).”
With my coffee in hand, I felt refreshed and ready to explore my first destination: The Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City.
Walking through its magnificent red gates, I was amazed by the grand architecture, intricate golden rooftops, and the rich history preserved within its walls. Every courtyard seemed to tell a different story about China’s imperial past. I spent several hours wandering through the palace complex, taking photos, admiring the traditional designs, and imagining what life was like during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
As the sun began to set, I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere before heading back to my hotel. Although it was my first day, I already knew this trip would be unforgettable.
Day 2 — Exploring Shanghai
The next morning, I traveled to Shanghai, one of China’s most vibrant and modern cities.
I decided to spend the day walking around the city to experience its unique atmosphere. My first stop was The Bund, where I admired the contrast between the historic colonial buildings and the futuristic skyscrapers across the Huangpu River.
After that, I explored Nanjing Road, one of the busiest shopping streets in the world. The street was full of local shops, international brands, restaurants, and street performers. I also tried some delicious local snacks and bought a few souvenirs for my family and friends.
As night fell, Shanghai became even more beautiful. The colorful lights reflecting on the river created a breathtaking view that I will always remember.
Week 1 — Discovering More of China
During my first week in China, I visited many fascinating places, experienced different local cultures, and tasted a variety of delicious Chinese dishes.
Each city had its own unique charm. Beijing impressed me with its rich history and cultural heritage, while Shanghai amazed me with its modern skyline and energetic lifestyle.
Along the way, I learned a few simple Chinese phrases, met friendly local people, and gained a deeper appreciation for China’s history, traditions, and rapid development.
This first week was an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, learning, and wonderful memories. I couldn’t wait to discover what the rest of my journey in China would bring.
