2025 Long Recap
January became my starting point again. I came back to work, arrived at the office at 8 a.m., and started my first job of the year in the finance department. At 12 p.m., lunch time arrived. All employees got free lunch, and the menu was surprisingly good — fried rice with spicy roasted salmon and orange juice. I felt so full and satisfied after that.
On April 1st, our manager treated all finance employees to watch Jumbo at the cinema. After work, we went straight to the cinema, grabbed popcorn and drinks, and enjoyed the movie together. When it ended, I felt shivery but happy.
A few days later, on April 13th, our office held Car Free Day and Velocity Fest. There were many food and beverage tenants and live music performances. My favorite moment was when the musician sang “Stecu Stecu” and everyone joined in making a Velocity TikTok together. The vibes were really fun.
June started with a heavy moment. The economy in my office was unstable, and unfortunately, I was laid off along with twenty other employees. While walking home, I realized many people were going through the same thing. When I arrived home, I took time to reflect, write a journal, and evaluate myself. I kept praying and tried to find job opportunities everywhere.
Thankfully, not even a month later, I received an interview invitation on June 10th at 9 a.m. After the interview, all candidates waited outside the room while the interviewers discussed the results. Three hours later, we were all accepted. I started a new job as a secretary staff. The company wasn’t very popular, but it felt cozy and comfortable. They provided free lunch, snacks, and drinks anytime, and even had vending machines on the first floor. I genuinely enjoyed working there.
August came with busy days. My job felt chaotic, but still enjoyable. After work one day, I decided to reward myself by going to my favorite restaurant. They had lots of new matcha menus — matcha ice cream, ceremonial matcha, matcha latte, matcha katsu, matcha fried rice, and matcha strawberry. I ordered matcha fried rice and apple juice, and both were really tasty.
On August 17th, Indonesian Independence Day arrived. My company held a flag ceremony, and everyone sang “Indonesia Raya” while raising the Red and White flag. In the afternoon, we had a karaoke session. The atmosphere was lively, and when “Tabola Bale” played, everyone sang together. It was such a happy moment.
In mid-November, Indonesia sadly faced major floods, especially in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. Our company organized fundraising to help the victims. After a week, my boss, nine other employees, and I went to Sumatra to distribute basic necessities and clothes. Seeing their smiles made everything feel meaningful.
Reflecting, 2025 was full of unforgettable moments. There were ups and downs, but I enjoyed every part of the journey. Hopefully, next year will be kinder and better — for me and for everyone. 🌱
