IDM adjusts Prambanan Temple operations ahead of PM Modi’s arrival

InJourney Destination Management (IDM) has adjusted operations at Prambanan Temple Tourism Park in preparation for the state visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on July 8, 2026.

IDM Commercial Director Gistang Panutur said on Tuesday that tourist access to Sewu Temple, Lumbung Temple, Bubrah Temple, and Siwa Field will remain open on July 7 and 8.

Visitors can continue to enter through the Sewu Temple Gate in Klaten, Central Java, and online tickets purchased for those dates will remain valid. However, several operational adjustments have been made, including changes to accessible areas and the addition of visitor facilities to enhance the overall experience.

“Meanwhile, on-site ticket purchases will only be available until 3:00 p.m.,” Panutur said.

He emphasized that the operational adjustments would not affect the company’s commitment to providing visitors with a memorable heritage experience.

According to Panutur, visitors will continue to enjoy the site’s rich cultural and historical heritage in a safe and comfortable environment. IDM is also committed to ensuring that visits to Sewu Temple, Bubrah Temple, and Lumbung Temple remain engaging and worthwhile while prioritizing visitor safety and comfort.

He added that the temporary operational changes reflect IDM’s support for the state visit, which marks an important moment in Indonesia–India relations.

“As the destination manager, we fully support this state agenda by implementing carefully planned operational adjustments so that the entire series of state events can proceed smoothly, comfortably, and successfully,” he said.

On Tuesday, President Prabowo and Prime Minister Modi agreed to cooperate on the restoration and preservation of the Prambanan Temple Complex. They also agreed to commemorate the Tagore–Dewantara Year from 2026 to 2027 to further strengthen cultural ties between Indonesia and India.

The restoration project will be carried out through cooperation between the Indonesian Government and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
