Hollywood Residents Slam New Tesla Diner for Creating 24/7 Traffic Chaos
Dozens of people gathered for a second consecutive night on Sunday outside the newly opened Tesla Diner in Hollywood, voicing their disapproval of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The protest group, called Resist the Coup, expressed anger over Musk’s perceived connections to the Trump administration.
“You can’t just ruin our country, leave, act like you’re the good guy, and pretend you’re opposing Donald Trump — when we all know he’s still in government doing his thing,” said organizer Toby Bronson.
Local residents have also raised concerns about the diner’s impact on the neighborhood.
“If you can send people to Mars, you should be able to fix the problems affecting the people living right here,” said resident Laura Kody.
Since its opening last week, the 24-hour diner — located near Santa Monica Boulevard and Sycamore Avenue — has reportedly created major traffic disruptions.
“To me, it just feels like a safety issue. All night long, there’s constant honking,” said Torian Pope, another local resident.
Residents say the influx of cars, difficulty finding parking, and unsafe pedestrian crossings have made the area increasingly stressful.
“We were excited about the supercharger station. We thought it would boost local businesses,” said one Hollywood resident. “But instead, there’s gridlock from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. It’s gotten so bad that I worry emergency vehicles might not be able to get through — and that really scares me because my parents are elderly.”
In addition to the 24/7 diner, the site also includes over 50 Tesla Superchargers, which some residents say are contributing to the congestion.
“They should use a nearby parking lot as a staging area,” Kody suggested. “They could also improve the app functionality so drivers know when it’s their turn.”
Over the weekend, anti-DOGE protesters also joined the demonstrations, adding to the noise and commotion.
“This is causing chaos on our block,” Pope added. “We need better traffic management and more enforcement.”
In a statement, the Office of Los Angeles City Council District 13 said it had contacted the Department of Transportation to step up patrols in the area and curb vehicle idling and loitering.
